I spent the evening on the East side volunteering for an event for Africa New Life Ministries-- an organization in Rwanda building schools and starting churches, providing sponsorship for children to go to school, teaching women skills (like sewing) to support their families, etc. The group started in Portland by Charles Mugisha Buregeya ten years ago.
