The last day of March has come and gone at last! With the final minutes of daylight-- and a splash of SUN-- Duncan and I enjoyed some time sitting on the back porch, dreaming of summer time and laughing in the face of rain.

Sometimes God places truly lovely people in our paths to walk alongside of us through different stages of this magnificent opportunity called "life."  I had dinner with one of those people tonight-- she is a beautiful gem and I'm so thankful to have her listen to my dreams and encourage me!  Love you, Lynette!

I feel the photo of today is anti-climactic from yesterday's.  However, seaweed is supposed to be really good for you!  The taste reminds me of Hawaii...

I spent some quality time with a fellow Viking warrior princess today!  We did a photoshoot highlighting the knitted hat line in Jenn Fidanzo's Trend Lightly wear.  Check out her Etsy site at www.trendlightly.etsy.com for some fabulous upcycled clothing!

So I'm cheating today.  I tried taking a photo of my cat tonight, but it wasn't good, so I'm posting one that I took of her a couple days ago because I just didn't want to "waste" it by not posting it!  Just pretend this is the photo I took today.

Winter is fighting to cling onto the coat tails of spring, digging its heals into the mud and leaning back as Spring resolutely marches forward through the rain.  Or maybe that just me not looking forward to "April showers bring May flowers."  I think it should be, "February showers bring March flowers."
Here is an indecisive March flower:

Forty-five minutes of free time + a notebook to write in + a good book to read (I FINALLY finished Les Miserables, for those of you who care...) + some good DECAF Starbucks = contented me.

Guitar Hero brings out the most hilarious in people-- I can't remember the last time I laughed so hard! Thanks my friends!  My face hurts!  (I was given reluctant permission to post this photo.)

Ask me about the video...

First day of Spring!  To celebrate this fabulous occasion, Duncan and I went for a quick run down the street in the rain.  This is what Duncan thinks of the rain:

After a long work week, there's nothing like good comfort food.  Mom sent me some authentic hand-picked wild rice from Minnesota, so I wanted to cook some tonight with salmon.  *sigh*  I'll sleep well tonight!

Pensive.  Pondering.  Thoughtful.  Considering.

Or is it just, "Hey, look out the window and I'll take a picture of the back of your head." Hmm... pondering...

That's not a real wall or a real window, by the way.  Stylin' hair, though.  Always stylin'.  You know that.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!  Ah, Epic Photographer's Failure today.  Yeah, so I took the battery out to charge it last night and threw my camera in my bag this morning... without the battery in it.  It will be disappointing if I forget again tomorrow.  So today's photo is a cell phone photo. Yes, one of those.
But this is Liz: she is mostly Irish and all fun!

And then tonight, I brushed my teeth and then realized I hadn't eaten dinner yet.

This is Wall-Eee the Heater.  We have a love-hate relationship.  I love him because he keeps me warm on these chilly damp winter days.  I hate him because he squeaks.  He loves me because I plug him in and let him do his job.  *This sounds really bad:* He hates me because I shake him, kick him, stomp on him, etc. to either make him run or to stop him from squeaking.  It's a beautiful thing when we co-exist in warmth and quiet.  Which doesn't happen much anymore.

Now I see a face on him.  Creepy little heater.

It was another one of those sloggy days; one in which the rain pelted the window at a slant and made the box elder bugs run for shelter into the house through the unseen cracks in the window trim.  On days like these, when a soul cannot comfortably venture outdoors, irresistible camera moments have to occur inside.  Those eyes...

*in an Eeyore voice* "Ohhhh bother... it's raining and muddy again. No dog park today."

I feel as though I'm in a constant state of fatigue, as I'm sure many of us do.  Frankly, I'm tired of being tired.  Life swirls around me so quickly and I allow so many things to fill up my time (people, too!), that I'm just exhausted.  This is a good realization to make, because I'm ready to make some changes in my life, starting with rest.  There's a guy in the Bible named Elijah, who overbooked himself, too.  He even just sat under a tree and fell asleep, then an angel woke him up and told him to eat fresh bread and drink some water, then he laid down again and slept, then the angel woke him up again to eat and drink some more, for he was about to head out on a long journey.  It's okay to take a nap.

This blog might end up being a cookbook!  Today is Ash Wednesday and it is 40 days until Easter; this time period being called "Lent" (celebrated by the Catholic faith).  Traditionally, people give up something for the 40 days starting on Ash Wednesday.  Now, I'm not Catholic nor have I researched Lent, however, being inspired by a Catholic former co-worker some 6 years ago (Hi Linda!) I have experimented with giving up something for the Lenten season.  The intention for me being, I find that denying myself of a comfort "fix," I will turn to God instead and get to know him better.  Self-discipline is an area of continual struggle in my life!  This year, I'm giving up meat and will thus come up with many more new recipes!  Second day this week my photo is food:

Rebecca's Spring Rolls:
Steam chopped fresh beets, carrots, and garlic cloves.  In a pan, saute chopped fresh mushrooms, all of a fresh green onion, and some chopped fresh cilantro in butter with some soy sauce and a dash of ground ginger.  Soak rice paper for a minute or so, then place a handful of fresh spinach leaves on soft paper; top with beets, carrots, garlic and mushroom saute; wrap. Either eat hot (on the left) by frying in a little bit of grape seed oil for a few minutes, or cold (on the right).  YUM.
(p.s. Don't let the water boil down to burn the pan when you're steaming the veggies, and maybe turn on the fan above the stove if you decide to burn the pan anyway.)

The biggest advantage to getting up really early is that there is more time in the day!  Spring cleaning with the patio door open, letting in the alive March breeze, the sun laughing through the sparse clouds, and peaceful afternoon naps.  This is Nikki's nap.

Also expect to see many more food photos, as (healthy!) food is another passion of mine.  Tonight I created sweet potato fries, lime salmon burgers, and fresh steamed asparagus.

P.S. I am creating new business cards to showcase my portfolio; please pick a few of your favorite photos and let me know!  I will use ones with the most votes!

Only 300 more photos to go!  When I have a non-camera day, I will automatically default to taking a last minute photo of Duncan.  His eyes are so expressive and deep, I cannot help but want to capture his personality through the lens of my camera!  Expect to see many more Duncan photos.

This blog entry is becoming a habit I can't break!  The infamous "they" say that if you do something for 30 days, it becomes a habit.  After a long week and a long day, I cannot go to bed without posting a photo! Even after I forgot to toss my camera in my bag today! What?! I KNOW.  So my photo today represents a fun evening with my friend Robin, going to a winery tasting, and then she gave me a birthday present of these fun, beautiful wine glasses!  Cheers!

These two fabulous young women were my bright sun-spot in the middle of a sloggy March day.  They made me laugh so hard!

P.S. "Sloggy Slog"gy\, a. Sluggish. [Obs.]  Somnolence that is sloggy slumbering --Chaucer."
I thought I made up the word.  I guess not.

Ah, fake rabbits.  This is the second one I've taken a photo of, however, this is Creepy Angry Rabbit who shoots daggers at me behind my back every day.  This afternoon, the sun peaked out between the raindrops and I turned around in my chair to admire the sunny beams on the bright spring blooms-- and met the hostile glare of Creepy Angry Rabbit.  Taking of photo of him just made him angrier... because it didn't help that he looks like he has a flower growing out of his head.

I had one of those all-day-in-my-pj's sort of day.  As fabulous as that is for the mind and body (rest!), it's a real stinker for someone who wants to have a fabulous photo of the day!  So this is my third pet, Westley.  He's about 1 1/2 years old.
